Golden Myanmar and Air KBZ to fly Ygn-Nyaung U-Mdy-Heho daily

Golden Myanmar airlines and Air KBZ will be flying a daily codeshare flight to Yangon-NyaungU-Mandalay-Heho starting from June 1 till September 30.

The promotion period is from June 1 to September 30 and reservations will be accepted by phone. The airlines will charge Ks 45,000 per ticket for citizens and US$81 per ticket for foreigners in Yangon-Mandalay, Mandalay-Yangon, Yangon-NyaungU and Yangon-Heho flights. They will charge Ks43,000 per ticket for citizens and US$79 per ticket for foreigners in NyaungU-Yangon and Heho-Yangon flights.

Dulwich College Yangon to invest $30m in 1st phase construction of world-class campuses

Partnered with Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd., Dulwich College Yangon is making a capital investment of more than US$30 million to develop the first phase of their two world-class campuses. It has also announced the details of a US$8 million investment into the sport facilities at its campus. The 20-acre StarCity campus will be introducing state-of-the-art sports facilities in August 2018 including a sports field with 400-metre running track, an indoor gymnasium complex, a dance studio and an aquatic centre with a 10-lane, 50-metre Olympic-size swimming pool and a 20-metre training pool. The College aims to broaden the students’ breadth of experience to include key life skills such as sport, music, the performing arts, public speaking and community service.

Grab to invest US$100million in Myanmar expansion

Grab has announced it will deepen the company’s presence in Myanmar by investing US$100 million over the next three years. The money will allow Grab to strengthen its presence in Yangon and work with local governments to launch its ride-hailing services to other cities across the country.

The company also plans to unveil other products from the Grab suite such as GrabPay, moving more people in Myanmar into the digital economy and driving the adoption of mobile payment nationwide. According to the press statement, it works with local banks such as CB Bank and Wave Money to make banking and financial services available to all of its driver partners in Yangon.

Korean investors eyes Retail Market

It is reportedly known from Myanmar- Korea Investment Seminar that Korean investors prefer to invest in Myanmar Retail Market.

In Yangon, available retail space with high standard facilities is now amounted to over 320,000 square meters, according to Collier First Quarter Market Report. Occupancy rate hits around 90%. Average rental rate for 1 square meter of retail space is around USD 32 at the moment and it is likely to climb 4 to 5% in coming 2 to 3 years owing to the rising demand. Shopping malls in Yangon city are comprised by clothing stores with 55%, food and beverages with 18%, special stores with 9%, healthcare and aesthetic centers with 7% and others with 11%.

Government approves seven new express delivery providers

The government has officially granted permission to a total of seven new registered express delivery providers to carry out operations in the country. Those delivery service providers will provide postal and parcel express delivery services both domestically and internationally and will be managed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

RG Express Services Co, Myanmar Zarla Distribution Co, First Courier Service Co, Hercules Logistics Co and UMG Logistics Co are permitted to provide delivery services domestically.

Meanwhile, RG Express Services, together with Door Asia Cargo Services, will extend their offerings overseas.In the past, only State-owned enterprises such as Myanmar Post had been permitted to provide postal and delivery services in the country under the law. Private firms were first allowed into the sector in 2013.

KBZ bank changes minimum charge for money transferring

Effective from 1st July 2018, iBanking transaction fee will be charged as follow:

Transaction per day IBanking Transaction fee
Up to 200 million MMK (Corporate) 0.0125% of transfer amount
Above 200 million MMK(Corporate) 0.025% of transfer amount
Maximum 30 million MMK (Retail) 0.025% of transfer amount (min 500 MMK)

The bank informed that there will be a charge for money transfer with the minimum of 500 MMK. The commission rate will stay the same, with only minimum charges increasing.
